Adele in running for artist of the year at BBC Music Awards

John Legend, Robbie Williams and Craig David are among the stars due to perform at the BBC Music Awards today.

Kaiser Chiefs, The 1975, Lukas Graham, Emeli Sande, Zara Larsson and Izzy Bizu are also due to take to the stage.

At the ceremony Adele will compete with Calvin Harris, Coldplay, David Bowie and Jess Glynne to be named artist of the year, while Adele's hit Hello is on the shortlist for song of the year, with Justin Bieber's Sorry and Drake's chart-topper with Kyla and Wizkid, One Dance, also among the tracks in the running.

Adele's album 25 also received a nod on the BBC Radio 2 album of the year shortlist, alongside Coldplay's A Head Full Of Dreams, Jeff Lynne's ELO record Alone In The Universe, Michael Kiwanuka's Love & Hate and Rick Astley's 50.

The prize for Radio 1 Live Lounge performance of the year will also be handed out at the ceremony at London's ExCeL, with Christine And The Queens' cover of Beyonce's Sorry taking on Craig David's version of Justin Bieber's Love Yourself.

The 1975's cover of What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction is also nominated alongisde Sande performing Hurts and Usher singing Climax.

Michael Buble had been due to perform at the ceremony but pulled out just days after announcing his three-year-old son Noah has been diagnosed with cancer.

The show will be hosted by Fearne Cotton and Claudia Winkleman.
